Indians protest in Malaysia

Malaysia's ethnic Indian community staged its biggest anti-government street protest on Sunday when more than 10,000 protesters defied tear gas and water cannon to voice complaints of racial discrimination.

Ethnic Indians from around the country swarmed into Kuala Lumpur for the rally, despite a virtual lock-down of the capital over the previous three days and warnings from police and the government that people should not take part.

Riot police fired at the protesters with sustained volleys of tear gas and jets of water laced with an eye-stinging chemical.

马来西亚银行雇员职工会(NUBE)万人纠察

More than 10,000 bank employees and their families gathered at Menara Maybank here yesterday for a three-hour show of support for better salaries. It was Nube’s first centralized national picket which saw about 10000 bank employees turning up at Kuala Lumpur’s Maybank Tower to state their demands.



由于不满银行拒绝与马来西亚银行雇员职工会(NUBE)商谈调薪要求,反影响人力资源部长擅自把这宗工业纠纷,带上工业法庭解决,马来西亚银行雇员职工会毅然决定在11月3日早上11时至下午3时在吉隆坡马来亚银行总部前举行一场4小时逾万人的纠察具历史性意义纠察,以表达银行雇员内心的不满。
